CONTENT ID

Broadcasters must constantly improve process velocity, accuracy, and flexibility.
A major obstacle, on that road, is the absence of a universal method to identify content.
This results in manual workflows plus resource-consuming communications for content production, processing and exchange, particularly for assets obtained from multiple sources.
The use of globally unique IDs is therefore necessary to any solution.

The Rise of Live Sports Streaming in OTT

The Rise of Live Sports Streaming in OTT

Sporting entertainment, which has always been one of the leading drivers of video services and innovation worldwide, is now slated to be the next niche segment to benefit from the adoption of OTT platforms.
The battle for sports content is now taking place in other arenas and includes new players. In the short term, this revolution will probably result in a greater number of sports leagues offering supplementary programming and access to selected games for exhibition on OTT platforms, thereby reaching segmented fan bases which would otherwise not be satisfactorily served.

Future of Digital Terrestrial TV Coverage – How to get to the whole Country? ( 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. )

Future of Digital Terrestrial TV Coverage - How to get to the whole Country?

The implementation of Digital TV is now in full swing and, by the end of 2018 many municipalities,(including the entire state of São Paulo), should have their analog systems disconnected. However, many of the stations, primarily in smaller locations, will only be subject to this process in 2023.
What are the expectations, and which actions should the sector be planning?
In this interactive panel in the format of presentations and a debate ((Q&A), with the participation of SejaDigital, TV channels, engineers and universities, we will have an opportunity to discuss the various issues that imply planning and decision making:
Is infrastructures sharing important?
When and how to invest?
Prediction, applying AI, field analysis?
Coverage, SFN: Is there a signal?
What will be the next steps for the future of da Digital TV?

Questions and suggestions can be sent to [email protected]
DURATION OF THIS PANEL UNTIL 13H30M.

The Spectrum Challenge in the USA

Broadcast format changes don’t happen often, and when they do, the transition plan is always challenging – both for broadcasters and consumers.
The various experiences of countries around the world in the transition from analog to digital TV (which still continues in many areas) bear witness to this complexity.
Now a second transition is contemplated, from first-generation digital TV to “Next-Gen TV.” In the U.S. (and elsewhere), however, new allocations for broadband wireless and other services have reduced the spectrum previously allocated to broadcast television, making the transition to Next-Gen even more challenging than the analog-to-digital case. This presentation will address how the challenge is being met by the U.S. industry.

Broadcast Migration to All-IP

In order to become more agile in operations and leverage the economies of scale and flexibility that IT infrastructure brings, Broadcasters increasingly have been migrating from broadcast-specific architectures to IT-based solutions. This goes hand-in-hand with the trend toward software-defined media processing and network function virtualization. This session will first give an overview of the challenges that Broadcasters face, the benefits of transforming to “All IP” and a high-level overview of what exactly is meant by “All IP”. It then will dive deeper into the technologies themselves, starting with a discussion of the Joint Task Force on Network Media (JT-NM) roadmap and the data essence and control planes of interoperability, followed by an overview of the major standards behind “All IP” including the new SMPTE ST 2110 suite of standards for Professional Media over IP and AMWA Network Media Open Specifications (NMOS). The current state of the industry will be reviewed and what’s to be done next.

SMPTE’s Road to the Future

The media industry is constantly evolving and changes are upon us again. New image as well as audio formats are emerging and streaming content to consumers online is common practice. This all requires new cost saving infrastructure to compete in an ever growing media market. IP networks which enable media infrastructure to move into data centers are seen as a solution. This brings with it a transition from specialized hardware products to commodity computer system with software only applications. This presentation shows how SMPTE will adapt to these changes to produce the standards and specification for the next generation media industry. It will briefly introduce SMPTE, detail efforts to stay focused on industry needs and update on SMPTE's Standardization efforts for the future of media production, processing and distribution.
