SET reactivates Working Group on Good Practices in Digital TV

Commencing April 2017, SET will resume the activities of the Working Group on Good Practices in Digital TV. The purpose of the group (Brazilian acronym, GTMPTVD) is to provide a guidebook of technical instructions so that TV stations ensure their signals comply with the Digital TV norms and legislation.

“We will strive to ensure that the population has access to digital TV signals free of interruptions and problems arising from configurations that do not comply with the Brazilian norms for digital TV”, Group coordinator Fábio Angeli explains.

He contextualizes that primarily now, with the switching off of analog signals, where the population will only have access to digital signals, it is very important that all players work in unison to ensure the interoperability and success of the system’s operations.  “And the Group is here to try to keep to a minimum the faults caused by non-compliant equipment and configurations that do not abide by the Brazilian norms for digital TV”, he explains.

The Working Group on Good Practices in Digital TV will analyze existing signals and will encourage the creation of suggested procedures for tests.

The first meeting with members will present and discuss the work plan, while also allocating initial tasks. No date has been set, but this will be published by SET on the Group site.
