Agreement between SET and IEEE-USP gives discounts to associates
SET and the Southern Brazil Chapter of the IEEE Consumer Electronics Society, through the intermediary of USP (University of São Paulo), have entered into a partnership to further access to scientific and technological knowledge. Under the agreement, members of both organizations will enjoy the same discounts as associate members when they participate in the SET EXPO 2016 and the ISCE (International Symposium on Consumer Electronics) 2016, respectively.
“SET, a Brazilian society with worldwide representation, enjoys legitimacy in terms of technical content. Those of us working in a world class field of engineering are excited about the exchanges this agreement holds in store”, Marcelo Zuffo, professor at the Polytechnic School of the University de São Paulo (POLI-USP) and coordinator of the Southern Brazil Chapter of the IEEE, stresses.
The agreement was signed by the President of SET, Olímpio Franco and professor Marcelo Zuffo, and takes effect as of this month.
“The partnership brings us much closer to where the best researchers in technology are, the Polytechnic School and USP. We are very grateful to have them as our participants and, if it all works out, this alliance could lead to a greater and more active participation by them and by the academics of USP at the SET EXPO”, Olímpio points out.
The SET EXPO is Latin America’s largest technology and new media event, and will take place between August 29 and September 1, in São Paulo. It consists of a Products and Services Trade Show and a Technology Conference, which this year is in its 28th edition. Registration for the Trade Show is free of charge and can be done here. A fee is levied for the Conference. ISCE associates enjoy the same discount as SET associates. Further information here.
The ISCE-IEEE is one of the world’s most important events in the field of electronic equipment, and is organized by the IEEE. For the first time in its 20 years’ existence, the itinerant event is being held in Brazil, more precisely in São Paulo, between September 28 and 30. SET associates enjoy the same discount as IEEE associates. Further information here.
