Internet of things and swarm intelligence are topics at the 28th Technology Congress of SET EXPO

Thomas Wolf, Silvio Meira, Salustiano Fagundes, Max Leite and Renato Cruz will discuss the possible scenarios to which those technologies will give rise and which promise a turnover of US$ 1,9 trillion in 2020

What will it be like to live and coexist in 4 years’ time, with 50 billion devices connected to the Internet, machines exchanging information among themselves without human intervention and with the analytical capability for providing the intelligence required for speeding up decision-making processes? What impacts will this cause on industry, the market and on human relationships and labor relations? Are we on the right path? These and other questions will be on the panel, “The Internet of Things and Swarm Intelligence”, on August 30, at 2:00 pm, during the 28th Technology Conference of SET Expo, which will run from August 29 until September 1, at the Center Norte Exhibition Center in São Paulo.
Considered one of the key panels at the Conference, it will host Thomas Wolf, president for the Americas of British Telecom (BT Group), who will present the case study on the “Store of the Future”, in which BT embarked technologies such as RFID, beacons, smart mirrors and smart fitting rooms. Also participating will be Sílvio Meira, emeritus professor at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), considered one of the 100 most influential Brazilian figures in technology by Exame magazine; Max Leite, Innovation and IoT Director of Intel, who among others projects, is noted for having created the “Gas Station of the Future”, together with Petrobras; and Renato Cruz, a journalist specializing in technology and editor of the Inova.jor magazine.
In the opinion of Salustiano Fagundes, CEO of HXD Smart Solutions and member of SET, who will moderate the debate more than ever before we have to imagine, and discuss, scenarios where people and machines become integrated. “This is no longer the future. It is reality knocking on our door, and we have to be ready to take the maximum advantage possible from all of this. “We want to show and debate that the internet of things and artificial intelligence know no boundaries, and that each step represents a great leap forward” says Fagundes, enthusiastically.
