High-capacity transmission for terrestrial free-to-air TV is the highlight at the SET event at NAB Show, in Las Vegas

During the SET Breakfast, promoted by SET, Kenichi Murayama, of Japanese TV station NHK, will introduce the latest developments in Super Hi-Vision

The next edition of the SET Breakfast, between April 24th and 26th, an event consisting of a breakfast seminar which the Brazilian Society for Television Engineering SET has put on for the last 26 years at the NAB Show, in Las Vegas, will include among its highlights the talk by engineer Kenichi Murayama, senior researcher at the Science and Technology Laboratories (STRL), of Japanese TV station NHK.

Murayama will give an overview of the current phase of the research and development (R&D) in transmission systems for the next generation of terrestrial free-to-air TV. “The NHK STRL has conducted research into the high-capacity technologies for transmission in Super Hi-Vision, and has successfully carried out experimental tests using this technology”, he advised.

NHK is one of the companies that most invests in research in the field of broadcast worldwide. “For the attendees at the SET Breakfast, the talk by engineer Murayma (sic) is a unique opportunity to get to know the advances made by the Japanese for the next generation of terrestrial TV, and how these will affect the TV industry in the years ahead”, says Olímpio José Franco, superintendent of SET and moderator of the Technology Forum to which the NHK researcher has been invited.

Future-proof –  The SET Breakfast will bring together major providers of technology, such as Advantech Wireless, Cisco/AD-Digital, Eutelsat, Intelsat and SES, which will use the occasion to present the latest global trends in the audiovisual industry. Also participating as sponsors of the event are, Sony, Panasonic, Intelsat, Kaltura, Megatrax, SDC, Arri, Leyard and Newtec.

According to Paulo Galante, sales manager at SET, manufacturers and providers of satellite services are attracted to the seminar on account of the opportunity for presenting solutions and technologies for Brazilian and Latin American executives and professionals who have the power to influence or decide on the development of projects or the acquisition of solutions.

To visit the trade show – Besides the SET Breakfast, SET is also organizing the Brazilian Delegation, providing free registration for those wishing to visit the NAB Show. With the support of the United States Embassy and the operations of the BrazilUSA agency, SET is also offering promotional travel packages for the event.
