Electronic Engineer by UFRJ and M.Sc in Digital Signal Processing by Coppe / UFRJ, having the area of ​​video compression as a research topic. He has been working in the Research and Development / Innovation area of ​​TV Globo's technology since 2000, where he currently serves as the sector manager. In 2002 he worked in the research center of Japanese TV NHK conducting research with the H.264 compression standard, in the occasion in the stage of standardization. Passionate about new technologies and innovation management, with many years of experience in software development, today leads a creative team that conducts research and projects mainly in the areas of signal processing, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, computing, electronics and IoT

Free software in practice: in house development and innovatiion

The open software universe provides programming languages, tools and many specialized libraries capable of speeding up development and turning quick experimentation of new ideas possible. We will explore some applications in the media market, pointing where some open components were used, and proving that only with the fast availability of free software we could rapidly prototype and test these ideas, therefore enabling a faster innovation process.

Rafael Raposo is graduated in Computer Science at PUC-RJ and works as a researcher in the Research and Development department of TV Globo since 2009. Specialized in databases, distributed systems and everything web, has worked on countless innovative TV projects like the system to receive Whatsapp messages directly from the Android app, and the clustering of Globoplay consumer's video viewing habits. Huge proponent of free software as a important way of sharing knowledge, was also one of the first to use and promulgate these tools in TV Globo.
