SET initiates Switch-Off Committee activities

As from this month, SET will initiate the activities of the Switch-Off Working Group Committee.

The group’s objective is to move forward with actions that help to spread knowledge about the analog TV switch-off process to television engineering professionals who are members of SET nationwide, so that they can contribute to clearing up any doubts about the process of the transition to Digital TV.

The group’s activity agenda will be based on the switch-off schedule defined by the Ministry for Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications (MCTIC). “Initially, the group will engage in planning the actions and in defining the priorities for 2017 and 2018. Later, we will put forward proposals for the purpose of holding regional meetings where the focus will be on the switch-off of local analog TV, and propose structured reporting models regarding the decisions of the GIRED and the Technical Groups”, Group Coordinator, Rafael Leal of the Rede Globo technology department explains.

The Group consists of specialists directly involved in the switch-off process. The material used in the meetings will be available to all SET associates.

“Participants must work in the broadcast sector, so that they can contribute to the drafting of proposals for divulging technical information about the switch-off in Brazil”,  said Leal, in clarification.

The first meeting took place this Wednesday (01) via audioconference. Future meetings and their frequency are still to be defined.

SET will shortly publish the Group’s page, with general information.
