President of SET opens Inter BEE 2015

Wednesday November18th saw the official opening of the 51st International Broadcast Equipment Exhibition (Inter BEE 2015). Present at the opening ceremony were the president of JEITA, Shigeaki Mizushima, and the president of SET, Olímpio José Franco, as well as other authorities. JEITA stands for the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association, the institute that stages Inter BEE.

abertura_interbeeThis year, the entity estimated a record number of 996 companies, utilizing 1,780 stands occupying all six pavilions of the Makuhari Messe Convention Center, in Tokyo, Japan. Around 38,000 visitors were expected by Friday, 20th, the final day of the exhibition.

ITE and SET sign a Term of Cooperation

On November, 18,, SET and the Institute of Image Information and Television Engineers of Japan (ITE) signed a Term of Cooperation with the aim of closer involvement of both entities in developing activities that benefit television engineering in both countries. The president of SET, Olímpio José Franco, and the president of ITE, Miwako Doi, signed the document.

The partnership provides for shared benefits, such as discounts at events, between both entities’ associate members in visits to Brazil or Japan. It will also make it possible to stage projects involving congresses, research, publications and standardizations, as well as the exchange of information and experiences that enhance the Japanese-Brazilian broadcast market.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Special Forum and Booth

forum_intebee_set1Also on November, 18, SET held a Special Forum as part of the official program of the Inter BEE Conferences Session. In front of a packed audience, Fernando Bittencourt, vice president of SET, talked about the future of Latin American broadcasters; Vitor Bahia Diniz, of the Brazilian Embassy in Tokyo, dealt with the 2016 Rio Olympic Games; Olímpio José Franco went on at length about the switching off of analog TV in Brazil; while Marcelo Zuffo, professor at Poli-USP put forward his ideas on the technological convergence between broadcasting and broadband. SET also had a booth at Inter BEE with the aim of promoting SET EXPO 2016.
