Introducing the Biquad range of equipment for the 2017 SET EXPO

Biquad is a technology-based company that develops, manufactures and commercializes broadcast equipment and accessories.

At the 2017 NAB Show, the company presented its most recent launch of the MStudio modular furniture range. Expected to hit the market at the end of 2017, this exclusive new development has already caught the attention of many on the market. Created specifically for the broadcast market, this innovative range of furniture can consist of several types of modules that come together in a variety of manners in order to adapt to any type of studio size. In other words, the items possess geometries with infinite layout possibilities that adapt to different requirements.

The outcome of extensive research and testing, the technology applied to the modular furniture stimulates new sensations and experiences for the user, creating a relationship between them, the furniture and the setting. With modern lines, up-to-date textures and differentiated design, the Biquad MStudio range presents a differentiated and definitive solution.

In the audio processing segment, one of Biquad’s specialties, the highlight will be the DAP Uno, a digital processor for FM stations. This processor affords artifact-free audio that is extremely powerful, clean, clear and defined, affording the station superior on-the-air quality at a very competitive cost. With an intelligent AGC input, in addition to an Enhancer that maximizes and emphasizes the original recordings, it also has 5 independent processing bands with sophisticated algorithms for masking distortions. The DAP Uno also comes with optional AOIP and STREAM cards, not to mention a 24bits/192Kbps MPX-over-AES interface.

Global Presence

Biquad currently has strategic contacts on every continent on the planet, ensuring distribution and technical support for over 40 countries. The Dealers, as they are called, operate autonomously within certain regions of the world, taking Biquad technology to stations and studios with a wide range of sizes. In the countries of Latin America to date, the product range is distributed by 2 partners: FS24 (Argentina) and Sercom (Chile), each of them with the respective market exclusivity.

These new agreements reflect the company’s business strategy of expanding into new markets, continuing what it has built up since it was founded in the year 2000. In the case of logistics and distribution in North America (USA, Canada and Mexico), Biquad has partnered with Bit Digital, headquartered in Miami, which works with household-name brands in the market, offering excellence to the global broadcast community.

Focusing on distribution, the US company provides radio stations with differentiated conditions for acquiring the best equipment. The deals closed recently have further increased the capillary nature of Biquad’s portfolio of solutions. Thanks to these partnerships, and before the end of 2017, the company intends to expand sales of its brand of products by 30%, while also working with additional international distribution partnerships. “Our partnerships in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Argentina and Chile prove that we can deliver our solutions not only in Brazil, but also in other world markets. This is a challenge we won’t shrink from,” says Renata Braga, in charge of international sales at Biquad.

AM Migration

The migration of radio stations broadcasting on the AM band to the FM spectrum aims to strengthen those radio stations that are losing out from the abandonment of the AM dial. The AM band has been done away with because it causes interference that makes it impossible for listeners to tune in to those stations. The larger the center, the more difficult the reception.

The decree authorizing the migration was signed in 2013 and, since then, Biquad has become an important partner of Brazilian broadcasting. With special prices and differentiated terms, Biquad provides migrant stations countless facilities for acquiring the best equipment to operate at full tilt on the new frequency. “On FM, the stations will find tuning in much easier, with superior quality audio. However, this superiority will depend, to a great extent, on the origin of the equipment to be purchased“, says André Salvador, CEO of Biquad. “Our equipment is an international benchmark, which is why we guarantee its quality and competitiveness. We are at the entire disposal of the radio stations to help them with the complete process of purchasing the best equipment”, Salvador adds.

Trade Shows and Events

Biquad has been a regular participant at the main broadcast industry trade shows and 2017 will be no different. The company will be present at a series of events organized throughout Brazil and overseas, so as to present its intelligent solutions to the entire market. According to Totty Souza, Marketing Manager, “The most effective way of selling or promoting a product is through direct contact. Advertising is the best way of making it accessible to the greatest number of people. A trade show combines the advantages of personal sales and advertising, by concentrating a huge number of buyers under one roof, which affords the opportunity for direct disclosure of sales messages.”
