SET EXPO Trade Show 2019 hosts the leading audiovisual product brands

New developments in equipment, technologies and services for the audiovisual market, telecommunications, broadcasting and electronic media in general can be seen at the 2019 SET EXPO Trade Show, which runs from August 26 thru 29 at the Red Pavilion and Expo Center Norte Convention Center. Entry to the event is free and over 20,000 people are expected.

The most important companies in the sector have already booked their places, such as Canon, Sony, Hitachi, Panasonic, Avicom, Embratel and Zoom Verizon Digital. In all, there will be 150 Brazilian and international companies showcasing more than 400 brands, presenting most recent developments in the market for sound capture, imaging, transmission and operations employed throughout the entire audiovisual production chain.

As was the case in earlier editions, the Japanese Pavilion will allocate space for demonstrating all leading-edge equipment developed in that Asian country and which are unknown in these parts.

What’s new

Many companies will have hands-on actions where attendees can get close-ups and try out the functionalities of the products there and then. One of these is Canon, which will showcase its range of cinema cameras and lenses, broadcast lenses and professional video cameras that enable images to be shown immediately as they are being shot. Fujifilm has chosen the SET EXPO Trade Show for a first-time presentation in Brazil of the Premista 28-100 T/2.9 range of cinema lenses dedicated to cinematographic full frame.

Present in the broadcasting market for more than 20 years, Teletronix will roll out its new developments in FM and TV accessories, including new transmitters with leading-edge technology. “We have reformulated the engineering of the entire range, identifying the need of Brazilian broadcasters, and we have brought this reality closer by coming up with a much more robust range of incomparable quality”, says Elisângela Carvalho, Sales Manager at Teletronix. In its TV range, the newcomers are low-cost Doherty Digital TV transmitters from the UBX range, costing 30% less than the previous version. “We have improved the production cost of this solution to respond to broadcasters that did not do the switch-off”, she concluded.

An expert in sales representation, project development and technical support in the field of TV Broadcast, Aviation and Defense, Avicom, in turn, will showcase Mediakind solutions for 4K/HD video compression and OTT, in addition to the GrassValley IP/SDI/4k master control desk, among other new departures.

One of the major players in solutions for implementing digital television and in Brazil and Latin America, ShowCase PRO will launch during the trade show the SPLICER digital programming commuter. This is an unprecedented and revolutionary solution for managing the distribution of regional television channels and programming, combining terrestrial transmission technologies using the ISDB-Tb standard, satellites and IP networks.

SES, a leading satellite operator, will do ten launches. The company, which is aiming to support TV stations and operators so that they can stay abreast of the constant changes in the experience of watching TV, will present the SES-6, SES-10, SES-14, and SES-4, the MX1 360 Platform, VoD Everywhere, OU Flex, UHD Platform (4kUHD), Headend in the Sky, and Sex Mux KU Brazil.

Talks and content

On the fringe of the trade show is the 31st Technology, Media and Entertainment Business Conference staged by SET. The entity expects to attract 2,000 attendees, who will watch over 50 panels and 200 talks over the four days of the event. The program schedule includes topics on radio and audio; AV contribution and infrastructure; innovation and disruptive technologies; content production; audiovisual distribution and regulatory and standardization issues.

Registrations

Conference passes are on sale and there is a progressive discount depending on the number of days purchased. Those registering by the end of July will enjoy the same table of prices charged in June, with a 10% discount. Entrance to the Trade Show is free. Those registering for the Trade Show by August 1st will enter a draw for a full pass that gives access to the four days of the Conference. In all, two passes will be raffled.
